How To Hear, “Well Done Faithful Servant”

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness. 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock…. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. ”  Matthew 7:21-24, 26

These are some pretty stern warnings from Y’shua in the above passage.  What are some of the things in these verses that does NOT give evidence that we are a true follower of Y’shua according to Matthew 7?

  • Prophecy in his name, i.e., words of affirmation, words from “The Lord”
  • Casing out demons in his name
  • Doing miracles in his name, healings, etc

Even though these things have obviously been performed by these certain persons and they are asking to enter the kingdom of heaven, they are ultimately rejected.  Why?

  • They didn’t do the will of the Father; Yahweh
  • They were lawless; i.e., they did not obey the Law
  • They did not obey the words that Y’shua spoke

What constitutes those who will enter, according to these verses?

  • Doing the will of the Father
  • Doing the things Y’shua said to do

I don’t know about you, but I desire to be accepted by Him when I stand in front of Him.

20 And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ 21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.[e] You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’”  Matthew 25:20-21

So, in order to do that, it would appear that we must do two things, believe that Yahweh sent His son, Y’shua, who reflects Him and is the word, and to honor his commands, because Y’shua’s commands are actually given by the Father.

48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”  John 12:48-50

  • Can’t reject Y’shua as God’s son
  • Must receive Y’shua’s words
  • We will be judged by Yahweh’s word if we don’t listen and obey
  • Yahweh gave the word to Y’shua to speak and he had to follow it exactly, teach it exactly, and require it of us exactly
  • Within obeying Yahweh’s commands is found eternal life

So, what are the words we are suppose to follow as spoken by Y’shua?

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill (in other words, to do them all) them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished (the Law is still valid even after Y’shua’s death and resurrection). 19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees (they talked a good story, telling others how to obey the law, but they didn’t follow it), you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 5:17-20

Until heaven & earth pass away, the Law is still in place.  Breaking of the Law is called Lawlessness.

16 So Y’shua answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me. 17 If anyone’s will is to do Yahweh’s[e] will, he will know whether the teaching is from Yahweh or whether I am speaking on my own authority. 18 The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood. 19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?””  John 7:16-18

Are we living our lives on how we want to please the Father, or are we following what the Father has laid out for us that shows Him we are truly living the way He wants us to please Him, His way?  I don’t know about you, but I mostly surely don’t want to hear the words, “Depart from me, workers of lawlessness.”

  2. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. 3. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
  4. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
