The Prey Will Be Rescued

A cat has adopted me.  We gave her the name Aloe and she lives both outside and inside our house.  I’ve never liked cats, nor really understood them, but since she’s come into our lives, I’ve come to a new awareness of these very weird animals.  She is definitely a predator as I watch her stalk her prey in the grass down the hill from my house.  She’s very slow most of the time, one of the laziest animals I’ve ever seen, but when she’s hungry, she waits patiently until the perfect timing, and then pounces on her prey.  She doesn’t really miss as she knows the perfect timing when they are unsuspecting, and then, it’s over in an instance.  Before they knew what hit them, they are deep in the grips of her enormously sharp teeth.  They don’t have a chance.  She’s even brought up her catch to the house and has eaten the whole thing right in front of me.  Pretty gross, but that is what she is… a predator.  She can’t help it.

As a child of God, saved by Jesus, we are prey and are also hunted down by our devourer, Satan.  He seeks to destroy not only us, but our children as well.  If you are grounded in your faith and unwaivering in your devotion to God, Satan’s attacks on you may have decreased to a point in that Satan is aware that you won’t change your mind; so he turns his tactics from attacking you personally to attacking those you love, and especially your children.

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. ”  1 Peter 5:8

In my immediate family, there are several children who are being hunted down by the devourer, Satan.  He is seeking to destroy their lives to not only devour them, but trying to affect the entire family as well, but God brought some Scripture to my awareness that would seem to indicate that He will not let Satan take his prey (our children) and kill them.  God is the Mighty One, and will rescue our children out of the grips of the enemy’s teeth, and will one day punish the oppressor and devourer.  We can cling to this promise for our children.

“Can the prey be taken from the mighty, or the captives of a tyrant[a] be rescued? 25 For thus says the Lord: “Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken, and the prey of the tyrant be rescued, for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children. 26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. Then all flesh shall know  that I am the Lord your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.””  Isaiah 49: 24-27

If you’ve spent time sharing God’s Word with your child when they were young, they have God’s Word in their heart.  It will not come back void and God’s promise is that they will not depart from it, though it may not appear like it at the present.  I cling to this!

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”  Proverbs 22:6

Father God, We don’t understand everything that is in the unseen world and how the devourer is seeking destruction in our lives, but we can identify evidences of his evil plan when we see the lies that are filling the heads of our youth.  Our youth are so lost in pain because of Satan’s predatory attacks on the children of God.  Father, we cling to the promise in Isaiah that you will deliver our children out of their oppression.  You will rescue them from the grips of Satan as you are the only one who is able to save to the utmost.  Thank you that we can trust you, though at times, our eyes don’t see.  Give us steadfast faith to believe and we long for the day when your promises come to pass.  In Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
