Finished or Sidetracked?

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. ” 1 Timothy 4:1-2

Will you finish the race or get sidetracked and fall short?

The above are scary verses if you really think about them.  Satanists are obvious as not preaching the true Gospel, but if there is even a renowned “Christian” preacher preaching a gospel other than what Jesus and the disciples taught, even if it is just slightly different in its teaching, then the message is actually being taught and delivered by demons. And, if this preacher is preaching it, some will believe and abandon what Jesus actually said.  They will be swayed by the teaching of convincing demons, disguised as light.  We need to be so careful of who and what we are listening to.  Do you want to listen to demons?  I sure don’t!

“And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.”  2 Corinthians 11:14

  • I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!”  Galations 1:6-9

Notice that some are “perverting the gospel,” so we understand that the false teaching is still about Jesus, but is warped and corrupted by the teaching demons in various ways.  The only way to know the true Gospel is to spend time in His Word, listening to the very words of God!  Unfortunately in these end times, we cannot trust that everyone claiming to know the Gospel is actually a true messenger from God.  We need to keep our eyes and ears open and be able to discern spirits.

  • “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition.”  2 Thessalonians 2:3

Don’t fall short of the finish line!  Hold fast to what the Bible, the true Word of God says.  You will fall short and be deceived if you are not into God’s Word yourself.  Though true Gospel preachers may help you learn, the truly best way to know, is for you to be in God’s Word yourself.

  • “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”  Acts 20:24

Father God,  I pray for us all that you give us discerning hearts so that we can all see falseness a mile a way.  We do not want to be deceived by demons and be drawn astray from you.  Keep us on your path by revealing yourself to us through your holy Word.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
