“The Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: “‘“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”’ “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.” Numbers 6:22-27
Have you put the name of the Lord on your children, your spouse, your family, your friends, your co-workers, your neighbors, a stranger in need?
As a follower of Jesus, part of our job is to pass on blessings to people around us. The Lord honors the requests of His humble servants, and in these verses, we see that God blesses those to whom His name is invoked.
Who can you bless today, calling on the Name of the Lord, to show His mercy and grace in their lives?
A friend of mine told me a story last night that is worth of repeating… She was at Cub getting groceries and as she was loading her vehicle after her purchases, she noticed that the woman in the car next to her was struggling getting her vehicle started. She offered to bring the woman wherever she needed, but the woman said this happens all the time and that she just needed to wait a while. My friend found herself boldly getting out of the car and going to the woman, “I’m going to pray for you!” and continued to pray invoking the name of Jesus to start the car. It started immediately. The Lord blessed my friend’s prayer and blessed the woman in the car. She was shown grace and who knows, maybe now she is wondering about this Jesus and will seek Him out. The woman in the car was shown a glimpse of God’s love for her that could possibly be transformational.
Father God, Continue to purify us, drawing us nearer to you, so that we can come boldly to your throne invoking your name for others so that your glory may be seen and others will come to know you. Thank you, Lord, that you hear our prayers and answer them. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
