“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.” Mark 6:30-32
How many times have you been too busy to spend time with the Lord? People are coming and going and going and coming, to work, from work, to soccer, from soccer, to the grocery story, back from the grocery store… errand after errand in endless cycles. God takes a back burner many times in our lives as the cares of this world overtake the cares of God.
- “but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.” Mark 4:19
Jesus asks us to come with Him, to a quiet place to rest, but not to rest like the world says… with long naps, long vacations, or bubbly bathtubs, but come to rest with Him and in Him by spending daily time in His precious Word and in prayer.
- “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Have you spent time resting with the Lord Jesus Christ today? What is in your way?
