Your Righteous Robe

“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. ” Revelation 12:10

One of Satan’s joys is standing in front of God accusing you of all of your sins.  He tells God about how you’ve failed, how you’ve not honored Him, how you’ve turned your back from time to time, how you can’t seem to get victory over a particular sin, how you didn’t help this person when you could, how you have been distracted by the cares of this world, and on and on and on and on…. day and night and night and day.

  • “May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.” Psalm 71:13

Jesus is perfect and in Him, God is perfectly pleased.  God’s way of defeating Satan’s accusations is by seeing us through His Son.  God has placed a robe of righteousness on His perfectly holy, Son and Jesus, has then covered us in His robe.  Now, God only sees the righteous robe of His Son, so He does not hear the accusations of Satan.

  • “And [Jesus] is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in [Jesus] and through Him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” 1 Cor 1:18-20

We are forgiven of all past, present, and future sins… but, of course the key is, is that we must have given our lives to Jesus so that He can cover us.  Jesus won’t give us His robe if we don’t know Him and He doesn’t know us.

  • “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’  “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:22-24

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. ” Isaiah 61:10
