A Day of No Deception

“And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.  He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.”  Revelation 20:1-3

The devil’s descriptive names:

  1. Dragon – merciless, total cruelty, complete hatred to all humans, no one on his team, destroyer
  2. Serpent – deceiver, makes bad look good and appealing, sneaking and cunning
  3. Devil – slanderer, accuser of the brethren day and night
  4. Satan – most common name, adversary, opponent, wants to do everything to dishonor and discredit Jesus Christ

Can you imagine a day without deception?  I can’t.  Our world has been filled with deception since the very beginning of creation when Satan tempted Eve in the garden.  Since then, we live in continual deception.  Satan’s tricks are the same and still go on today:  taking the bad things and making them look appealing and irresistible.

God has told us the end of the story, and from Revelation 20, we read that Satan is finally bound and thrown into the bottomless pit to await his final sentencing.  During this time of 1,000 years of the reign of Jesus Christ (Yep, He’s coming back to reign!), there will be absolutely no tricks of Satan allowed.  We will live in complete peace, harmony, and love, just as God intended.  Sin will no longer seem appealing and will instead seem absolutely appalling to us.  This time will be like no other with the head of the church, Jesus Christ Himself, in complete control over the earth.

What a glorious time to look forward to!
