Reflecting on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, reminds us of God’s amazing love. Sometimes, especially in difficult seasons, we need to have our minds refreshed. God knew we would need to be reminded over and over again. Our memories are temporary and failing and all too often our personal experiences dictate our feelings about how love is shown. God’s love is radically different than the world’s version. He describes His love as “agape” which is an unconditional commitment to place the needs of others above the needs of oneself. God did just that.
Proof that God loves YOU (from 1 John 4:8-16)
1) Because it’s His nature and He just can’t help it. 4:8
2) Because He came up with a plan to get you back. He sent His one and only son so that YOU can be in a relationship with Him. He wants you that bad! 4:9
3) Because it was His initiative, not your own doing. God chose to place His love upon you. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or not done. He picked you for exactly who you are. 4:10
4) Because of His justice and His mercy. God needed payment for your sins and He provided the payment. He saved you from His punishment. He saved you from Himself. 4:10
As I’ve heard it said, “God’s glory demanded resolution from sin. God’s holiness required payment. God’s love found a way.”
God did all of this just to prove His unconditional, agape, love for you, my friend. Yes, He loves YOU that much! Know it! Believe it!
“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for [you]. God is love…” 1 John 4:16
Father, I thank You for your love for me and those reading this blog, and for not keeping it a secret, but instead reminding us over and over again. Help us to never question your love, but instead, bathe in the glory of what You have done for me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
